About Us

We are a group of 5 students taking part in the 2025 Young Enterprise Scheme. Our team is Lola Castles, Kyla Ashton, Hannah Norris, Grace Bamber and Sophie Sheppard.

We want to create something meaningful and impactful for the young girls growing up with aspirations and goals.

Our Why

How many books, adverts, and promotional materials have you seen related to national rugby players or sports stars? And how many of them were aimed at young girls or women in general? Our guess would be very few.

When we were growing up, we were read books about fairies and princesses and encouraged to play sports like netball. It was only as we got older that we were more exposed to the possibilities of women's rugby.

So we wanted to change this. We are creating a children's book aimed at young girls aged 3+ that incorporates meaningful messages for young girls to never give up and to keep trying.

Harper, the main character in the story, faces challenges but continues to be resilient while entering her rugby journey. Along the way, she is encouraged by her peers to stay strong and to get back up when you fall, which we believe are key messages for young wāhine.

So help us to change the perspective on women's rugby and women in sport for the young girls growing up.
